That’s a wrap ladies, our 2nd meeting of 2018 is in the books and what a memorable evening it was!
Such a beautiful and bright venue, thank you to Liverpool John’s and Angie Poucher, for hosting our members.
The new member and guest line was very busy! We had three teams, and five individuals join! Inviting a guest is the best way to attract new members, let them witness first-hand #ThePowerof100.
The more members we have, the more significant the impact we can make in the community. #LocalWomenLocalImpact
Carol Dahlquist of Windreach Farms joined us to share how our donation of $5,750 has helped to support their ever-expanding Beyond the Farm Gate Program, an innovative program that incorporates all that the Farm has to offer into a mobile service which visits users out in the community. We heard from three very deserving charities:
· The Kidney Foundation of Canada-Durham Chapter- nominated by Marlene, speaker Hannah Stojanovski view presentation
· Simcoe Hall Settlement House – nominated by Lisa, speaker- Elizabeth view presentation
– Art With A Heart Inc. – nominated by Sheri, speaker Sheri Gundry view presentation
The presentations were insightful and moving, hitting home how great the need is in our community. Even though we can only pick one charity of choice, we have the honor of learning about so many different programs that serve in our neighbourhoods.
All are worthwhile charities, and we would love to give the money to all. However, the members voted, and the WINNING charity is Simcoe Hall Settlement House.
In addition to the funds raised that evening, fellow 100WomenAPW members Sue and Christine are also members of Pickering Racquetball Club held a fundraiser and added $1,1100 to our total donation for Simcoe Hall! Now that is the #ThePowerof100 in action!
We can’t forget his evening’s event sponsors, they ensure 100% of all donations go directly to the charity of choice.
