Venue

Kicking off five years of giving!

What a momentous evening! Together we gathered on February 20th to celebrate kicking off our 5th year of giving and raising $100,000+ for our community! Everything from the venue to the food was simply perfection!

We returned to the venue where it all started, the Abilities Centre, a gorgeous facility, bright, spacious and filled with positive energy! Let’s not forget that the Abilities Centre is also a charitable organization offering programming opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.  There are many ways to help support them: you can become a member, donate or volunteer.

We started off the evening with a toast to our success by Shaun Collier, Mayor of Town of Ajax and Maurice Brenner, Acting Mayor of City of Pickering. Mayor Collier is an active member of 100 Men Who Care Ajax and both Mayors expressed the value in grassroots movements supporting the smaller on the ground charities, which sometimes go unnoticed.  We are honoured that they could join us, along with Councillor JoAnne Alexander, Centre Ward Whitby . A special thank you to Councillor Deidre Newman, West Ward Whitby, for stopping by to give us a one-time $100.00 donation on this special evening!

The toast and fabulous spread were thanks to Jacquelynn Tanner, our annual Hospitality Sponsor, who went over and above her quarterly donation to graciously sponsor My Shopping Diva – Donna Hartrick to cater the appetizers and Prosecco for our special celebration. Just divine!

Ladies who missed the meeting ( and there are a bunch of you!!), please honour your commitment and send your donation in today!

Answer: 100women

We had six NEW members join us, bringing our total to:

64 individuals

18 teams

Our goal for this year is BIG, but together we can achieve it:

100+ members  (we aren’t far off with a current total of 82!)

The more members, the more significant the impact in the community, we have the potential to raise and donate over $40,000+ annually all while meeting new people, learning and connecting with charities that serve Durham Region.#LocalWomenLocalImpact

Call a friend today and let them know about our next meeting.
Wednesday, May 8, 2019
7pm to 9 pm
Tosca Banquet Hall
800 Champlain Avenue
Oshawa, ON

Our Charity of Choice for November 2018 was University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) – Women in STEM program. Jodi Cowan joined us to share how our $6,670 donation impacted their program. This non-profit program launched the night of our meeting, we were the very first contributors! The Board of Governors Matching Fund matched our donation, which means at least two scholarships will come out of our contribution and we are short just $1,000 dollars of having a third in 100WomenAPW scholarship!! Anyone with employee matching programs can look into boosting this donation.

And the WINNING charity is …. Their Opportunity.

Their Opportunity exists to support under-serviced families with the means to enroll their children into local sports and recreation programs. They set out to eliminate the financial barriers so children can develop essential life skills such as confidence and sportsmanship, as well as develop a healthy lifestyle. Their Opportunity hosts a unique Giveback Program where children receiving funding are required to “pay it forward” within their community.

Visit their Facebook page, give them a “LIKE” and help spread the word about the wonderful work they do.

We can’t forget this evening’s event sponsors – their generosity helps ensure 100% of all donations go directly to the Charity of Choice.

2019 Beverage Sponsor and Committee Member, Jacquelynn Tanner.

2019 Communication Sponsor and Committee Member, Melanie Martin of Webrite Design Solutions.

We wouldn’t look so good without the support of our Print Sponsor Heather Hebert, Owner of The UPS Store #349

2019 Marketing & Design Sponsor and Committee Member, Jennifer Dempsey of CHUCK-IT Removal Services

Gather up your friends and colleges, let’s break that 100 member mark and help make a profound difference in our community!
