The evening was kicked off with a greeting from our newest member and generous Annual Platinum Sponsorship – Kelly Jones from Revera Westney Gardens and one of the original residents Grace. View presentation

Claudia Gutierrez – Director, Events, and Operations at Their Opportunity, our February Charity of Choice, shared how our donation is being used to help sustain the roar and build a legacy. They are working on a curriculum-based program that will be into schools this September. Intermural children can compete and have the support of the schools, with an end of season festival that will bring all the schools together. They are also setting up a para-athletes fund, where athletes can access money for equipment and fees to eliminate the barriers.  View presentation

                                                                 ——————————————-

We heard from two new charities! Always excited to learn more about programs that serve our communities and how we can give back:

  1.  Susan Remmer – Director of Development Ontario Shores Foundation for Mental Health View Presentation
  2.  Nova’s Ark – Mary-An Nova – Director of Nova’s Ark View Presentation
  3.  Durham Human Society – Volunteer Vera View Presentation

And the WINNING charity is …. Humane Society of Durham
The third time was a charm for this organization, Vera shared a heartfelt presentation, her dedication, and love for the animals sealed the vote!

                                                                  ——————————————-

We had three NEW members join us at the meeting, bringing our total to:
63 individuals
19 teams
82 members!! We are getting there!

Our goal for 2019 is to reach 100+ women, and together we can achieve it:

100+ members x $100 donation each = a 10,000+ donation to the Charity of Choice!

The more members we have, the more significant the impact we can make in the community. #LocalWomenLocalImpact

                                                                  ——————————————-

We can’t forget his evening’s event sponsors; they ensure 100% of all donations go directly to the charity of choice.
