Since the end of May, HSDR has taken in 238 animals at a cost total cost of $34,000 to $69,000 to cover exams and medical treatment. HSDR doesn’t receive government funding and is the only shelter in Durham Region. Consider donating your time and volunteering to this fantastic organization.

And the WINNING charity is …. Joannes House.
A big #100WomenAPW thank you to youth ambassador Sultan, for sharing your story of perseverance and strength. Such an inspiration!
Joannes House offers shelter, transitional housing, and school programs for homeless youth. After serving over 400 youth last year, they decided to make a shift, focusing their programs on prevention. Ending youth homelessness requires school and community-based prevention and intervention strategies. DYHSS works with families and community members to provide support to any young person in need.
Visit their Facebook page, give them a “LIKE” and help spread the word about the critical work they are doing in our community.

Our goal for this year is BIG, but together we can achieve it:
100+ members (we aren’t far off with a current total of 75!)
The more members, the more significant the impact in the community, we have the potential to raise and donate over $40,000+ annually all while meeting new people, learning and connecting with charities that serve Durham Region.#LocalWomenLocalImpact
